Marketing Tip - Copywriting Ideas
Since I have been working on doing my own sales copy, I have been doing lots of reading and researching on how to write better copy. If you go on line, you can find lots of books to buy, subscribe to newsletters. Of course Patricia Olgivia www.salesletters.ca has a wonderful e-zine.
I found this book at the Library “The Adweek Copywriting Handbook, written by Joseph Sugarman. I got a lot out of this book. Buying Trances written by Joe Vitale – I am not finished reading it yet. Every author seems to have their own take on copywriting. Another place you can get some ideas from is www.dankennedy.com.
Here is the basic template I got from Joe Sugarman’s book– the rest is just practice, practice and more practice.
Headline: The purpose is to attract attention ie Vision Breakthrough
Sub-headline: The Why ie When I put on the pair of glasses.. What I saw I couldn’t believe my eyes nor will you…
Byline: your name
Your copy: ie What I am about to tell you is a true story
The deal is that once you have gotten your copy written, leave it alone for a while, overnight a couple of days and go back and edit it. It may take you up to a week or two to finish it.
Think about what you want to communicate about. Is it a sales letter, is it an ad is it for blogging or your website?
