Believing in Yourself

By Mari-Lyn Hudson

How do you know you don’t believe in yourself? Most of us don’t really know until we just keep ‘doing’ it. D.I.A. means Do It Anyway.

If you don’t know if you can paint, draw, promote yourself – sell your art work Do It Anyway.

For example, Woody Allen recalls the exact moment when he 1st believed he could make a film. He was eight years old, watching Tyron Powers in The Black Swan. He remembers thinking to himself “Hey, I could do this.” This wasn’t a revelation that sent him out to buy a movie camera – it planted a seed, a seed to call that said “I am capable of telling a short this way.”

Have the courage to start your own dream journal. From writing all your dreams all kinds of ideas and images will come to your mind to put into your own art and stories.

Ideas don’t want – they need to be expressed. You are it. Are you willing to be courageous enough to express them? If you can’t, then they’ll move one and find someone else to be the channel.

If you say YES to the ideas, they will help you develop your courageousness and assist you to get out of your own way to create your craft or idea.

How often is it that we ask for _____, whatever it is we want to happen, it shows up and we start to dig our heels in like a 3 year old. A course may be offered, a book lands in our lap, someone will share with us something that works for them, yet we resist.

All we have to do is plant the seeds, water our garden and watch it grow and allow God to deliver it to you. Don’t start to dig up the seeds just to see if it is growing or not – just let it grow. Let it be delivered to you.

Perhaps the next time a great idea/s come to you just say YES! They will help you to believe in yourself.
